Weekly Objectives for 11/18/13 - 11/22/13

Overview- The Greek Fest is here.  We have three days to prepare for our presentations.  In class this week, the journalists will focus first on creating a driving question.  The driving question has to have the end goal in mind.  From that question the students then collaborate and share ideas on how to make sure that the goal is accomplished.  Jobs and expectations are handed out by the facilitators and then the true work begins. Many of the skills they have picked up over the past three weeks will be put to the test over the next three days.  Make sure to stay tuned to the "happenings" within our News Room.  We look forward to seeing you on November 21st, from 4-6 in the middle school gym for our 1st annual "Greek Fest."
Monday - 11/18/13 - "What do we have to do to make our presentation a success?"  Driving question: done!!  The students have decided to attack this process by splitting into groups of two.   I do believe they have a Power Point presentation in store for the visitors.  They will also be creating a presentation agenda for people to follow.  Right now they are keeping a lot of their work "hush-hush."  Will they successfully implement their plans and provide and entertaining presentation, or will it flounder due to inefficiency and poor collaboration?  Pay attention to find out the details!!!
Tuesday - 11/19/13 - The Power Point presentations are complete. The first is a procedural documentary on the making of The Greek Daily Times.  The second presentation is also a procedural documentary on how the students create the Olympus Evening News.  Keera Oakes has completed her Poster Board presentation detailing the history of her very popular blog.  The journalists have created a list of possible topics to be presented at the Greek Fest.  They are also coordinating their ideas for how they plan to cover the Festival.  We can't discuss too much as they would like to keep some of their work a secret to be unleashed on Thursday!! We look forward to seeing you at the Greek Fest in the Middle School Gym.
Wednesday - 11/20/13 - Today is the beginning of the Greek Fest setup.  Mr. Bish's crew is hard at work getting things ready.  Every room is pitching in with their best efforts.  The News Room is prepped and ready to go.  We are hoping that the technology issues will be met in order for the journalists to present their information.  Much of our work is either recorded or presented through technologically advanced systems.  We look forward to seeing you tomorrow at the Greek Fest.
Thursday -11/21/13 - Showtime!!  The kids have worked so hard and it will pay off tonight.  Everyone is so proud of their accomplishments.  Knock 'em dead.
