Overview - We now have seven working school days before the Science Fair on February 13th. Our students are currently in the experimental stages where they are observing and collecting data. During the week the groups will transfer their data onto graphs and charts. The groups will also analyze their data to check to see if their hypotheses came true, or if things didn't turn out as planned. They must then reflect on their work and provide a conclusion to their research. The final report must be handed in by this Thursday, so it can be turned over to the judges for review. Please make sure that your child is in school this week and that they have brought in their materials for the experiment.
Monday - 2/3/14 - Today in class we worked on many different aspects of the science fair. We have groups finishing up their data analysis and registering information into graph form. We have others working on their experiments during the day. While still others have not brought in their materials to complete the projects. They have until Wednesday and then we must type the final research paper for the judges.
Tuesday - 2/4/14 - Students continue to work finalize their research papers. When completed they will then move onto the poster board phase.
Wednesday - 2/5/14 - We now have seven completed research papers. Only 22 papers are left and the deadline is tomorrow. The reports must be submitted to the judges no later than 6:00 PM on Thursday. Hopefully, many of the students will take advantage of "after school" to complete the projects.
Thursday - 2/6/14 - Deadline day for the science reports. Students are working very hard to meet the deadline. The weather has not been our friend these past three weeks. Hopefully, the sun will shine today and allow the students to stay after and get the first phase complete. Some of the project boards are beginning to come to life. In Mrs. Santamore's room, the students are working on critical friends where they present their information to other groups. They are then asked many questions about their projects. The hope is to have them prepared for the rigor of judging next Thursday.
