Overview - The AgBotics Challenge has finally commenced. We started the project by having the Clarkson University Robotics Team deliver the mission statement to our eager students. As educators, or should we say employers, we introduced the job postings and gave a brief overview of the qualifications. The current positions being offered are as follows: accounting, inventory specialists, CEO/CFO, robotic engineers in construction and programming, marketing/media specialist, research and development, and finally the newsroom. Throughout the week, students will be expected to apply for two positions in these areas. They must draft (2) resumes and (2) cover letters, one for each position they are seeking. The deadline for this work is Wednesday, at the close of school. On Friday, we will be holding the interviews in our corporations/classrooms. Good luck to all students, and for a more in depth explanation of the project, please visit our new blogspot page at: http://salmonagbotics.blogspot.com/.
Monday 5/12/14 - Today, we rolled out the new project by having the Clarkson Robotics Team deliver the mission statement. We then described the various positions the students can apply for. The rest of the day was spent on updating resumes and drafting cover letters.
Tuesday 5/13/14 - In writing class, I modeled to the students how to draft a professional cover letter in a true business format. We also worked on rearranging the information in their resumes to make it make suitable for each position that they are seeking. Students have until the end of the day on Wednesday to have (2) cover letters and (2)resumes drafted. They must present this information in a portfolio.
Wednesday 5/14/14 - The students continued revising and updating resumes, along with completing cover letters for their chosen employment.
Thursday 5/15/14 - Students were required to turn in all portfolios in order to set up times for interviews on Friday. Students were given time to research the interview process, and practice answering questions that may be posed. We posted the interview times for all of the candidates who made the final cut. Those that that were not chosen will go back into a hiring pool, where they will be assigned tasks that best fit their qualifications. This pool was created due to these students not being able to meet the deadline for turning in their portfolios.
