Weekly Objectives for 11/3/14 - 11/7/14

Overview - We have a busy week ahead of us in the Newsroom.  The employees will be looking for ways to improve their deadline time, and to crank out more work in an efficient manner.  Our room has many employees that are learning new skills, from writing to photography.  This week, we hope to provide five newspapers, with advertisements and the weather included.  In the broadcast room, we hope to be able to iron out all of the glitches of the SONY Vegas system.  We are also trying to learn how to compress video in order to place the broadcast on Blog Spot.  The group has also added a live field reporter to the crew, which will provide a new venue to watch the Greek Fest gain momentum.  As always, Sophia will provide her opinionated blog about the developments within each room.Bear with us while the we work diligently to resolve the issue.

Monday 11/3/14 -
Today the employees must create billboards for the Newsroom and the Broadcast Center.  They are also responsible for designing an employee list outside of the classroom.  They hope to tackle placing advertisements in the paper today, along with a more colorful weather report.  In the broadcast room, we have students learning all about teleprompting, along with compressing their footage down to 100,000KB due to the internet rules.  Stay tuned in as we also learn how to iron out the glitches with the SONY Vegas system.

Tuesday 11/4/14-
I was out this morning, but the Newsroom continued to produce results.  Upon returning, on my desk I found a completed version of Poseidon's Press, with advertisements!!  Nice job.  The photographers took wonderful pictures.  The broadcast room also completed three segments as well.  The Greek Buzz, an interview, and commercials were part of the highlights.  All we have left for today is some editing with Mrs. Fox and Mr. Davey.  Stay tuned in folks.

Wednesday 11/5/14 -
It was an early Christmas for the Newsroom, as a box of goodies arrived at our doorstep.  Inside the box, we discovered that we were now in possession of two more micro sd cards, and two large sd cards.  Each capable of storing 32 GBs of information.  We also received a 20 foot lead HDMI cord to be used in the broadcast room to split the screens for teleprompting.
The paper was once again published on time, along with the blog.  The photos are really improving in quality and clarity.  Our broadcasts are getting more succinct and detailed.  The editing crew has mastered the SONY Vegas system, after earlier struggles.  We are now trying to tackle the feet of compressing information to load it into Blog Spot.  Right now we are being defeated, but as I have seen before, these students persevere and overcome all obstacles.
        Nice job newsroom!!!

Thursday 11/6/14 -
We survived!!  The students were outstanding in front of our visitors from NCT3 and local visiting schools.  They were shaking hands, making solid eye contact, and answering questions about their careers like true professionals.  They knew their stuff, on the spot, every time.  Nothing makes you more proud as a teacher.  Broadcast done, newspaper done, blog done..... all with added pressure.  Nice job guys.
